Lesson learned

Perhaps others perceive long-distance relationships differently than I do, and perhaps they have more faith or optimism.

I learned, however, that it's simply not possible, no matter how in love two people are.

Distance, when too extreme, only dilutes passion and postpones joy.

Being the stubborn optimist that I am, I have hoped—often sincerely—of how nice it would be if a long-distance relationship would work out. Just once, even.

The reality is really similar to what you posted here, though!
